Common errors

This page follows "Start Annual Return Process". For information on how to begin an Annual Return process, click here.

When you begin the Annual Return process for a company, you may encounter an error. 

Business number company may not be valid

Click on the company name that has the error, then click on the arrow to reveal the workflow. Here we want to edit the company profile.

Scroll down to Compliance information and ensure both company number and NZBN number is added.

NOTE: Whilst updating the company details, you might like to take the opportunity to add additional information like Balance Date, IRD / GST numbers etc. 

Click Update once done. 

Once you have made the necessary changes, click on "re-run" to Prepare company extract and variance report. 

This will place a tick in Prepare company extract and variance report and remove the error.

In the Companyworks "Work" tab, the workflow status will be updated to 'Prepare Review'. For information on how to prepare the company extract, click here.

Company has no NZBN assigned to it 

 

Scroll down to Compliance information and ensure both company number and NZBN number is added.
