Updating director & registered office addresses at the Companies Office

Overview

This article will outline the process of changing the registered office and director's address details of a company in Connectworks and automatically pushing the changes through to Companies Office.

Linking to Companies Office

Before making a change at Companies Office, you will need to ensure that the company along with your own account is linked to companies office.

First check your own profile is linked as per our article Linking to Companies Office (RealMe)

Then ensure the company being updated is also linked to the Companies Office, to do this.

1. Navigate to your firms Clients>Companies tab.

Companies which have an active link to the Companies Office will display a chain link symbol next to their name, as pictured below:

Companies without an active link will display a broken chain, as per:

2. For unlinked companies select "edit profile" for each company to be updated (available on the right when hovering over the company in the list).

3. In the Incorporation tab enter the country of incorporation as New Zealand, this will allow you to select the "Connect to companies office" button.

4. You will be redirected to a search function which is auto completed with the company's NZBN as it is recorded in Connectworks. If the NZBN is incorrect or not recorded in Connectworks, then you can complete the company name, company number or NZBN in the search bar manually.

Note - if this option appears as "Unlink from companies office" then the company is already linked and you will not need to make any changes.

If no results appear when searched it is likely that the company has been removed from the register. Check with the companies office to confirm.

 

Change registered office address

To update the registered office address details:

1. Navigate to the company's workspace section

2. On the top right-hand side, select the "File annual return button"

 3. In the annual return slide-out panel, scroll down to the Company details and select "modify company details". Within this section, you can change the address. Once you have filled in the details, click "Save registered office".

Change Director's details

To update the Director's details:

1. Navigate to the company's workspace section

2. On the top right-hand side, select the "File annual return button" (shown in the above screenshot)

3. In the annual return slide-out panel, scroll down to the Directors' details and select "modify director's details".

Within this section, you can change the date of appointment and/or retirement, email address, phone numbers and address. Once you have filled in the details, click "Save director".

The changes will be updated with the Companies Office within 60 seconds.
