Checking for Overdue Annual Returns

Before getting started with a new month's filing, it's good practice to check that all the companies due for filing the month prior have been completed. 

To view overdue returns add the following filters to your workflow:

  • Files Return
  • Last month - or you can select "any month", or specify a particular month.
  • Overdue

Complete filing for any of the companies showing as overdue, or use the "retrieve last filing" function (detailed below) to check that the last known filing date is displaying correctly.

Retrieve last filing date (update from Companies Office)

Occasionally in the Annual Return Workflow, companies do not show an accurate last filing date, which can cause a company to incorrectly appear as overdue for filing.

It is important that this action is only performed when the workflow is displaying either "Not started" or "Complete" - in any other workflow step retrieving the last filing date will close the workflow.

You can quickly check whether a company showing as overdue has been filed by selecting the “retrieve last filing” button available to the right of the company in the workflow (see screenshot below). This will pull the most most recent filing date recorded at the companies office, and the workflow status will update accordingly.
